Hunting & Fishing Licenses

Hunting, Fishing, Sporting and Trapping licenses in addition to Waterfowl, Archery and Primitive Firearms Stamps, may be purchased at the Town Clerk's Office during regular office hours.
As of January 1, 2007, any adult who plans to purchase a Hunting or Sporting (combination hunting and fishing) License must show either one of the following documents:
1. A previous hunting or sporting license from any state, Canada or Mexico.
OR
2. A government issued certificate showing they have passed a basic hunter education course. The certificate can be from any state, Canada or Mexico.
A Massachusetts Firearms Identification Card (FID) or Massachusetts License to Carry Handguns (LTC) will no longer be acceptable for purchasing a hunting license.
All minors between 15-17 years of age who wish to purchase a hunting license must produce the following documentation in order to purchase any hunting license:
a basic hunter education course certificate from any state or province and a letter of consent allowing the minor to hunt, from his or her parent or guardian
OR
a letter signed by the minor’s parent or guardian affirming that the minor will be accompanied at all times by a licensed adult while hunting and a letter of consent allowing the minor to hunt from his or her parent or guardian.
This new law restores legislation that had been in effect previous to 1998 and is similar to the other 49 states requiring all new hunters to take a basic hunter education course in order to purchase a hunting or sporting license.
